Decadence

And now for something completely different ... At life drawing this week, I used a dip pen and black ink as I wanted to move away from tonal work for a change.
Even better: the model brought along a feather headdress which, I thought, created a rather decadent look, so I sat on the floor, looking up at the model (on a platform) which skewed the perspective. I had great fun producing the drawings directly in ink with no pencil under-drawing, on a sheet of cartridge paper prepared by rolling purple linoprinting ink or watered down black ink across it. Back in the studio, I added the bold red and purple, the white and the colours of the feathers you can see in some of the photos.
