Twins

I’m just back from Chester’s twin town in Germany: Lörrach, which a group of us visited to help celebrate its Frühlingsfest (Spring Festival).

This trip, of course, gave me plenty of opportunities for sketching, for meeting some lovely locals and, naturally, for sampling the local beer and cuisine. The weather cooperated too!
Morning coffee on a sunny café terrace, wandering around the town, listening to the various jazz and other bands playing in the squares - all the time with sketchbook in hand .... a great way to soak up the atmosphere!

Lörrach is so enthusiastic about its twinned towns (Sens in France and Senigallia in Italy, as well as Chester) that it has named squares after them. Chesterplatz even has a red telephone box which - I am told - was fully functional until recently.
