For me, life drawing usually entails drawing a female model, but this week the model was a man, and a male model presents me with something of a challenge. As my drawings of women are full of curves and softness, my difficulty lies in making a male look masculine, rugged even. Fortunately, our male model has good muscle definition, so that was my focus, and I used charcoal and sanguine oil pencil on cartridge paper, which I thought was more manly than pastel on coloured paper.
